On 11 July 2006, the Holy See granted the 'nihil obstat' (ie the permission) to the initiation of the cause of beatification and canonisation of the Servant of God Sandra Sabattini.
On 27 September 2006 the diocesan enquiry into her heroic virtues was opened in the diocese of Rimini, Italy. The same was closed on 6 December 2008.
